His music successfully combines the realism of the urban experience with the idealism of social consciousness without compromising his street credibility or becoming preachy, pretentious, or pedantic. This duality resonates through his poetic ability and offers a welcomed escape from the humdrum of constant clichés. Aftahlife’s lyrical content therefore extends beyond the confines of violence, voluptuous women, and volumes of dough to include also, understanding of self, significance of family, and purpose of community. His debut album, “Let There Be Life,” is a colorful collage of vivid images painted with the deft and determined strokes of a master.
