Logic started playing with hip hop in his 7th grade year only toying, with the notion of getting anywhere. After a string of public access performances as well as in store freestyles, by 9th grade, he was locally more popular than he imagined was possible. So, by the time he hit 11th grade he had already won an amazing number of local battles, appeared in local showcases, and places he wasn’t even old enough to walk by let alone walk in. During the midst of all this recognition he was still dealing with life’s ups and downs (friends getting killed, his crazy drug addicted mother in and out of his life, his father assuming both parental roles while holding two jobs, and his own run ins with the law etc.) he still managed to develop his craft and solidify his staple in Connecticut’s thriving hip hop scene. In 2000 he met someone who would change his music direction (enter Swift Ikarus) Swift at that time just starting to make beats, and through the mutual love for the culture they connected to build the foundation for Skitzofrenik Records. This was a pivotal moment it was clear it was time for an album. They began to work hard, it was a huge stress on Logic since he never wrote a song it has always been freestyle(off the top)the whole time. As time went by, a song here, a song there,it was starting to come around but logic knew he needed to stay a force in the local as well as form an army. In 2002 Logic had achieved a win in new york as well as placing in Cincinatti. Now by determination alone he locked himself in the studio and recorded his debut street album in a day tentatively titled Nothing 2 Lose. The album sold 400 copies at the record release party alone and 8500 copies statewide. This was a major success for Logic. This is when it was time to recruit a roster of artists, now with R&B, Hip Hop,Pop, and Rock covered Logic is definately the artist to watch, even the Streets Confinement magazine named him lyricist of the year for 2005 and he didn’t even put out an album or mixtape that whole year. It goes to show heart and determination go a long way.
