Born Anthony Melas in England on May 14th 1982, Sniper was raised in Ayia Napa, Cyprus. He is of English/Cypriot/Lebanese/Italian origins and is the founder of Greko Beat. He is also one of Europe’s hottest Rap/Hip Hop/R&B/Greko Beat artists on the come up. He has worked with the crème de la crème of the game worldwide, including Memphis Bleek , Freeway, N.O.R.E (Roc-A-Fella Records), Dj Green Lantern, Copywrite, Juelz Santana, and has remixed many tracks including the Cassius Henry single “The One” featuring Freeway and Kanye West. Sniper is both a super producer and a rapper. He gained notoriety as one of the members of London collective So Solid Crew, whose album “They Don’t Know” went platinum in 2001. He started out as a DJ before working his way up to main producer, and finally began rhyming. It was then that he started incorporating the Greek element to his lyrics (songs like “Bou Bas”) to create a style that is now called Greko Beat. He also flowed in his native Greek language on the chorus of the 2003 Oxide & Neutrino track “Super Sensi”, from their second album “2 Stepz Ahead”. His production company, La Familia Entertainment reflects Sniper’s background and lifestyle. Brought up in a hard working family (that lost everything during the 1974 Cyprus invasion), Sniper was involved in the family businesses from a young age. Today the Melas Family stands tall and is globally connected with a number of successful businesses under their umbrella in Cyprus, Greece, and all over Europe including Europe’s largest themed water park, Waterworld’, as well as the nightclubs Black & White’ and Club Ice’. Europe’s legendary Hip Hop and R&B club Black & White’, established in 1985, was very influential to Sniper when developing his musical talent. It was here that he came to see what was hot and what wasn’t in terms of the crowd and it was here that he felt the influence of American Hip Hop and R&B. At the age of 10, Sniper started his first radio show on Napa Radio’. Over the past years he has been a great influence to the music culture on the island of Cyprus, representing his country all the way. Napa Radio’ is also part of the Melas’ corporation. La Familia Entertainment is also home to up and coming talent in the music industry and home to large scale concerts and parties worldwide including Jay-Z in London (Twice as Nice) all the way back to Ayia Napa, with the summer parties. In 2004 Sniper came in contact with Bee High and they put together the first Roc-A-Fella show in Cyprus. Memphis Bleek was the person for that job alongside Sniper. Bleek made rap history on July 23rd, being the first American artist to ever touch down on the island. “It was all family . . .“ and Bee High was the right person to take Sniper to the next level. Bee High manages acts like Memphis Bleek, Copywrite, and now Sniper. In 2005 Sniper became part of SWAGGER both as an artist and as a businessman. SWAGGER is not just a record label, its an entertainment platform worldwide, from video clips to screen savers, from mp3’s to ringtones, SWAGGER has it all. The founder of SWAGGER is Briant Biggs a.k.a Bee High. The same year, Sniper teamed up with SYMPHONY RECORDS owner Victor Restis and Margarita Hadjinassiou to form REAL STUFF, a record label specializing in hip hop, RnB and Greko Beat. The label also boasts MACIA STUDIOS, considered the diamond of Athens’ when it comes to music recording studios.
